Why did no one tell me how good this show was? Probably had the most lackluster ending I've ever seen, but god damn the characters were refreshing.

The only part I didn't like was how every character from the human world turned out to be a shit and the only good one turned out to have been from that world all along.

The two human world characters were anime only stuff.
The guy doesn't exist in the novels since the MC goes to all-girls school. And the book girl doesn't even go to the twelve kingdoms.
That means that in the novels all that thieving and morally questionable shit is done by MC herself whos sanity points are dropping with alarming rate.

youko and yuko were both shit, but they grew out of it. asano was the only truly shit one, literally abandoning everyone he comes across and killing innocent people. the point wasn't that all kaikyaku are bad, because we meet suzu later

I think it was Gyousou and Taiki?
It's a lot, but the author apparently enjoys blueballing her audience.
But spoilers from the top of my head
>Taiki gets focus and we get to meet the king of Ren and Renki. Gyousou and Taiki improve their relationship.
>Coup in Tai with both Gyousou and Taiki gone missing. I believe this was talked about in the anime.
>Risai is found with an arm missing. She talks about the coup. Youko agrees to help them.
>Taiki is found in the human world (also covered in the anime). Youko makes a search&rescue party with the other emperors to bring back Taiki to the 12K world.
>Taiki is returned safely and talks about how he was attacked by one of the generals(?) from Tai and managed to flee to the human world where he lost his memory. He also grew up and is in highschool.
