The only thing I liked from this chapter (aside from what my dick liked) was the fact that he actually remembered Shinobu's character.
I really liked her since her introduction, so I was buttmad back then when she didn't join the cast. Then, I was pretty happy when she got brought back, only to get buttmad again because her return was pretty shallow, and she was just being used for fanservice and to have more girls around (because apparently Akamatsu gave up the idea of not writing a harem/romcom back by that time).
I hope she starts getting more attention from now on.

Not really. This is past Akamatsu, like he returned to Love Hina/early Negima days.
Even fanservice chapters in Negima (after the trip to Kyoto) usually advanced the plot rather than stall it.
I'm not really complaining, just genuinely concerned. Akamatsu seemed like he was really trying to break away from his early style.

The first time he "regressed" back was on the return to Mahora, but even that arc had a distinctively UQ Holder feel to it. Up to the training with Eva's master I think it still was more like late rather than early Negima .
The regression has been accentuated ever since Mizore and Shinobu were (re)introduced.

To be honest, this chapter is much better than any MSN related plot or characters appearances. There's noting to ruin if they don't show up.
