Should I just give up and watch the anime? The manga is clearly never ever gonna get scanslated with the last chapter 840+ days ago and counting.

In my country the first three volumes have been adapted (I don't think they'll ever adapt the extra one though) and the ending was disappointing.
Without spoiling, there's a lot of build up which is killed eventually by a cheap cop-out.
I don't know if the anime follows the source material.
