Except that MC's steam gun could kill the kabane and that being mass-produced is all they needed to give the humans a fighting chance. The main problem isn't killing the zombies it's killing them without getting bitten in the process. The heart cage prevents most 1 hit kills so you have to fire multiple times, the zombies can also run very fast and can jump rather far. If you miss even one shot you'll be bitten and just add to their numbers. That's why the people prefer hiding in the fortress rather than trying to fight them.

Winning all the time with rage, and letting yourself be consumed by it all the time with no clear benefit is stops being a fun after a while. I personally don't deslike him since i understand why he'd hate the titans with a passion. Besides he stops going full rage after Annie is captured in the manga, in the anime they litteraly gave him "MUH RAGE" powerup instead of showing his progression with being able to control himself.
I mostly just enjoy characters being batshit insane or full of rage since it's mostly entertaining, but kind hard to pull off. A good example of insane done right would be Komaeda from Danganronpa 2.
