After watching the show and rehabbing in the last thread, I was motivated start learning Japanese in case the game TL takes years to finish*. So far I've memorized hiragana and katakana, and am halfway through basic grammar. Kanji looks like it'll be a bigger pain than expected though. I didn't realize their pronunciations aren't modular, e.g. "day" (日) is pronounced "hi", but "today" (今日) is "kyou", "tomorrow" (明日) is "ashita", etc. Completely different sounds despite the shared character. Who designs a language this way?
*: (Or in case the TL turns out as bad as that one Anon says. From peeking at the prologue script, it doesn't seem so terrible, but I can't gauge its accuracy, only its English.)
