Westcott has been longing to have that power for 30 years and his mindset is fucked up. Shidou on the other hand got that power unwillingly and doesn't really like to use it either but he gets used to it. What Westcott has in his possession isn't an angel but a demon. I think Tachibana wanted us to see Westcott would represent the edgy side while Shidou represents the good side. But to put it simply, any human that gets a sephira crystal can get used to that power regardless if they are weeklings or psychopaths or narrow-minded, it doesn't matter, the power is theirs as long as they own the sephira.

Similar things, not the same thing. Shidou risking his life against the odds to protect girls in various ways are comparable. And volume 12 wasn't the first time Shidou got mad before (volume 7 and Origami's arc comes to mind) and won't be the last. In the same volume he got mad at DEM, he thought Kotori was still the best imouto, anyways.

If the author wanted to make such contrast between Shidou and Westcott then giving Elliot sealing powers makes no sense whatsoever. Ratatoskr were supposed to be the "good guys" and DEM's nemesis but even the old man is willing to sacrifice Shidou.
Ellen would make a more credible villain at this point.

You can't really compare with that. Shidou cares a lot about Origami so it's only natural he tries to understand and be sympathetic, plus Kotori wasn't killed anyways.

Those powers have helped out a few times even if they are not special anymore. But that's what makes this harem more enjoyable, the fact that the MC isn't a dense, OP, cool character but a MC with a brain, kind of clumpsy in the beginning that starts to grow and that has to struggle to not drop dead when using his powers.

It's obvious the way he reacted in volume 12 is very unique compared to the rest of the novel and Mana is not even death. His reaction to Mana's condition is something I want to see.

Because the conditions and feelings at the time weren't enough to set him off. That's the point, anon. It should be obvious why he doesn't hate Origami or Miku and was understanding of them in a harem light novel. But for Ellen and Westcott, he has antagonistic feelings towards them.
You have a point though, volume 12 Shidou is a bit different. That Shidou is like an unlocked Shidou who regain some of his memories. I'd say from that point on we'll see him be more serious and display similar reactions for any of the girls more than ever.
