I remember the hype. It was funny seeing /k/ tripfags coming over here for the threads.
In fact, that whole period of Upotte, GuP, C3 and Jormungand airing is one I remember fondly. Weebs going to /k/ to get into firearms and kommandos coming to /a/ for the latest episode's threads. /ak/ might be pretty cancerous now, but it was fun back then for a bit. There was a real sense of camaraderie in some of those threads.

Momoka single-handedly carried that show, while all the other characters were very weak. Stella had a more colorful cast and also did more with the survival game premise, while Sabagebu mostly went for cheap comedy shots.I liked both of them.

It's normal for comedies to have 1-dimensional characters. Stella wasn't as funny so it needed more thoughtful characters. But really only Yura, Sonora, and Rin had any depth. The other club members were irrelevant.
