I have a simple question that someone has probably brought up.
When they bit that guys arm, what stopped them from simply amputating his arm before it spread? I mean, the spread is highly visible.

1. Edgelord garbage that pretends to be serious but uses retarded logic. Example: When someone gets bitten he is forced to kill himself with other people holding a gun at him practically forcing him to do it!, whilst yelling "Do it for honor man". How in the fuck is it honorable to kill yourself if you're being forced to do it? It's not noble if you're forced.
2. No one in the show decides to just cut the arm and stop the infection before it spreads; but instead stare at the guy and start going full panic mode.
3. The setting has been proven illogical right away when it shows people getting inspected by bite marks. Something that happens AFTER THE TRAIN ENTERS THE CITY! How are these people still alive?
4. To add on to the previous point. What would be the reason to inspect the people when it is prevalent in the finale scene of the show and the first scene of the show that it only takes like a minute for you to become a zombie? Any infected person would go crazy by the time it takes for you to get undressed and inspected.
5. To make it even more confusing, all side characters state how it takes 3 days to become a zombie when it clearly, nearly took over the protagonist in a minute and various other people. Oh my lord!
6. The excuse for the protagonist to hate the adults is also dumb. It is stated that "Those suspected of being a Kabane are to be locked up for three days and kept under watch." But still, yet again. It's shown that it takes only a minute for the infection to take over.
7. The evil adults lock him up for being a retard and keeps bitching about not losing his humanity to fear, but he lost his humanity to ANGER. Also it doesn't matter what you feel when you're bitten. You lose your humanity regardless of emotions so it's all fucked up logic for edgy teenagers to hate adults.
8. The survivors weren't allowed to leave the city because they all needed to take of their clothes and be inspected. YEAH GREAT IDEA! LET'S STAND AROUND FOR 1 HOUR INSPECTING EVERYONE FOR AN OBVIOUS VIRUS WHILE ZOMBIES ARE RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER! No.
9: Final point. Whilst everyone is getting eaten, the protagonist wants to test his zombie gun. So he plans to lure one of them with the smell of blood. Which makes no fucking sense once again. Why are they attacking people who AREN'T bleeding? Why would they follow a small trail of blood when they're thousands of people all around them when they're full of it. It's just an excuse for the edgelord protagonist to cut his wrists.
Bonus: Also he stops the infection by nailing his arms, chocking himself to stop blood going to his brain? Which for some reason didn't kill him and burning his arm that had the infection. This is so edgy I just might cut myself.

If you paid attention then you would know that the average person views it as a curse you can't get rid of. That's why they suicide after getting bit. They don't know it's a virus.

If you look at the time period, it's safe to say that there are few people willing to study or even touch a kabane. They clearly view it as a curse.
It's a stretch to say that ONLY the MC studied them, but it's clear that in this town, nobody gave a fuck to. We don't know a lot about the bushi except that they're the oppressing the populace to keep order. So maybe they prevented people from studying them due to the perceived curse.

In most zombie stories, medically it would be a death sentence to amputate since it's extremely dangerous to do so. Most people aren't doctors so they don't know where it's safe to make the cut and they don't want to be responsible if they died while the amputation is being done.(You can easily bleed out and there's usually no way to replace blood in these scenarios)
In the walking dead, they had a doctor character to guide them through the amputation process to do it properly so he wouldn't die as well as the fact they still had medical supplies.
So tl;dr: Amputation is extremely risky and dangerous.

People used to believe lepers were cursed. Hell even in modern times when someone says they have AIDs or HIV you can visibly see people making distance even though logically just by touching someone you don't magically get aids.
And if you paid attention supplies are probably an issue in this setting, you can probably infer why people would want you to kill yourself instead of amputating yourself, becoming useless in the process and then becoming another mouth to feed.
There's a buttload of perfectly normal reasons to not amputate in this setting.

It was still in the tunnel when they started lowering the bridge. The fact that the train was on time, and thus exactly what they were expecting probably contributed to their carelessness.

I think it's heavily dependent on how you get wounded by a zombie in the setting.
the MC had a pretty deep bite on his arm so it looks like that's why it seemed to spread faster than the guy who just had a cut or a guy that got his thumb bit off.
I don't think the train workers typically have wounds like the MC did. So I think the whole "3 days" thing is how long it typically takes a small wound to completely zombify someone

It looked like broke protocol and lowered the bridge too early because they were relieved to have the train appear just as they expected. There was no need to have the bridge get stuck, by the time they tried to raise it it was too late and the partially raised bridged deflected the train though/over the wall. It looks like the wall wasn't made to withstand that because they expected any runaway to fall into the gorge. Shitty planning and fuckups on infrastructure happen all the damned time even when there isn't a zombie apocalypse.
That scene where they suspected the guy of being bitten was stupid, the bite marks leave big telltale purple rashes that spread across the body in a matter of seconds. It would have been pretty easy to actually tell whether he had been bitten or not.
