I like the manga quite a bit, the protagonist has surprisingly a lot more of personality compared with most shoujos.

Anime was a pretty good adaptation, manga is not that different. The order of a few chapters was changed as to avoid an awkward ending, but it didn't affected the story and there were no other drastic changes.
Personally, the story got more interesting once all the dragons got together and the group started the real journey to save the country, while the "bad guy" is shown to be not so bad (right after the anime ends).
