Stratos and Shadow Mist are at 1, Reinforcement of the Army is at 1, Heroes are kill. without six search cards and the ability to basically search out several monsters to mask change into, form change into to win during the battle phase as well with Super Polymerization being limited to one, the deck is destroyed. There are Anik/Dark Law plays but it's still mostly depending on xyzs, cards like Goblinberg and other carsd that special summon. Heroes as a whole is garbage and spoiler alert, whatever Aster is going to shill will be garbage as well.

I feel ARC-V has gotten worse. They could've easily and I can't stress enough EASILY condensed Synchro to 25 episodes and make it easier to get through. As it stands right now it's just ok. I don't really have high hopes for the series going forward since the mysteries keep piling up and the answers aren't coming out. Not particularly.
I think synchro was weaker than standard for the first 60% of it, but not by much. A lot of complaints about the pacing were already present in standard during the pre-maiami championship yuya episodes; which are arguably all skippable two parters aside mieru. Same could be said of a fair amount of duels in the championship itself.
Comparatively, synchro did a better job of giving the arc a central threat thanks to Roger, who needs no explanation. Furthermore, I really liked learning about how the world worked and watching everything come to a head towards the end of synchro; it made for a really satisfying climax compared to the kinda lacking climax of the battle royale where I actively remember not caring about Yuya/Reiji II whatsoever and just wanted to get to the next arc.

Jack/Sergey matters because sergey is Roger's pawn and his key to gaining support via proxy.
Friendship cup after sergey/jack is more for the sake of the ideal in order to try and quell the uprising.
The rioters stopped rioting because the king is their fucking ideal. They hate him for his success; but, he is the pinnacle of their way of life. He is what they strive for and Yuya in this situation, as the challenger, is very much the same. You have to understand, the issues between commons and tops are ones of positions, not ideals. They all believe in the tops/commons system, they just hate being on the commons side of it.
What makes Yuya's duel special is that his way of fighting is actively arguing against that way of life with his reliance on different leveled monsters in unison (as he's been doing since 79); which makes everyone watching consider an alternative to their flawed system.
