So, I just finished reading this. I couldn't help to feel this was like an anime. I guess the similarities to Crest of the stars helped that..

What other western books need anime adaptation?
Hard mode: no Dune

That's no moon....

Why even bother living?
>>

Is this the series, where Earth's moon is actually a sekrut battlestation?

The kids go full retard on a different planet IIRC in a sequel book.

Definitely the fight scenes need animated.
>>
>>139549228

Sorry just my gut impression of my fading memories, but the book is pretty boring as it goes into medieval LARPing on a primitive planet they're stranded on.
>>
>>139549399
Well. There is pretty good reason they need to do the medieval LARPing. And even if you are 10x stronger and faster than normal human, you can easily get overwhelmed.

I could not get past book 2, it is sad that it devolved into a shitty love triangle drama shit.

pic related has some griddy as fuck fight scenes that I would love to see animated like when west was grappling with a dude and bit his fucking face off

Either this with extra grimdark and suffering or an episodic series consisting of a compilation of his short stories.

Hell, one of his stories basically invented tachikomas before GitS was even a thing.

No, most studios I like are too unreliable or their animation style wouldn't fit the tone of the series.
Maybe Bones or Madhouse at their best.

The first two books are about meeting the first invasion by those aliens. The third book is about the kids of the hero and heroine going to a newly discovered alien world and overthrowing the AI overlords that secretly control its feudal society, for no good reason.

You just mixed the two things together.
There is no AI overlord in 3rd book. Just religious nuts "worshiping" automated defense computer as their God (or Voice of God).
>>
I'll mention what I always do. Zelazny's Lord of Light and the first half of his Amber Chronicles would work marvelously. I could see LoL fitting Shaft's style, telling Sam's allegoric tales and adventures in their trademark fashion.

neal did nothing wrong. I think given what they had to go up against he made all the right choices.

I get mad thinking about the dumbfucks who took the moral high ground while reaping all the shit he accomplished. dumbfucks like that need to die in a fire,
>>
>>139557754
True, although, Ayalla did go a bit loony.

What pissed me off was their incessant love affair with the skaylns, I mean maybe they could n't design anything better, but damn I wish Moss didnt get such a skayln boner later in the series.
Honestly, this would make a good anime series if it was idk death note lengthish?

I can't read anything he writes without being salty about Absolution Gap's ending.
3 whole books of buildup and he resolves the inhibitors in what, a page and a half? Then the apocalypse happens anyways because fuck you, read my short stories.
That book was nice though. Chasm City is my personal favorite, and would also make a great anime.
>>
>>139558271
did she? she was crazy at the end, but I can only recall her being extremely proficient at what she was doing.

hehehe I liked them and I loved the combat at the end which was quick(and it could only be quick given how the forces approached each other) but would not make for good anime
>>
>>139559305
No the skalyn fighting is pretty fun you just have to slow down time, did you ever listen to audio book on audible, it had an extra-section where it detailed the whole fight. But yeah the skalyns wouldn't make for good anime fights, but you change the skaylns to be some more stereotypical fighter, maybe make it something like a hyped up viper from BSG.

I think the fear the sky portion of the series would make the best anime, to be honest. You get a nice character based show, while you also can have the mobili agent fights
>>
>>139559305
Also yeah, I just think the death of barret just made her too cold for the less committed members of TASK to deal.

The Discworld series.
>>
>>139551099
Black Company isn't mainstream. I wish it was, Glen Cook deserves shit loads of moolah. Original trilogy was fucking amazing, original book was god-tier. It's like dark fantasy and military fiction had a child, and I love how they put magic in the foreground for the majority of it, with the few having use for it rather than the many.

yes I only listen to audio books nowadays while playing something like ck2(I live in a backward 2nd world country with published english books being rather rare, it does not help that I am a poor fuck) and I only skimmed through the fight because I lacked interest given that I knew the conclusion.

I think the 2nd book would be the best given that it is the one with all the wars. I could feel neals frustration while reading it. especially when the space elevator fell

the 3rd book had too many time skips to be a good anime.

>>139560365
bayaz is the best long lived mage to be penned in my opinion.

hehehehe it seems that I really like cold and calculating characters.
>>
>>139561704
Yeah these audio books are great for ck2 also vicky 2.

Do you not think that the first book would be good with all the espionage and deception? Like the second book is good, but a lot of it is construction and other things and I love that shit, but sometimes anime and tv can really fuck that up.
The third book is godawful, I mean i liked it, but it had nowhere near the atmosphere that the 1st had.
>>
>>139562317
I guess I am biased, you are probably right the first book would make for the better anime given that it is thrilling throughout the novel. I can see how /a/ would complain that the second book is "too slow" and what not given all the build up needed in it. I myself love politicking so I think if both books would not be rushed I would like the second more. but I can see any studio fucking up the second book a lot easier as you say.

but then again I think the first book would have to incorporate the monologues somehow, especially for the agents. a lot of anime have trouble doing doing that right, so I do not know.
>>
>>139549708
already has an anime

I want to see Zelazny's Chronicles of Amber animated. Especially striding between realities, all the swordplay, walking the Pattern, delicious sisters, and the glory of Amber itself.
>>
>>139563393
Good point, I love polticking as much as any paradox fan, but I just don't want them to fuck it up badly aka fucking always. /a/ would shitpost a ton about any move made by neal and it would be hell. Like if they don't fuck the 2nd book I would trust them to do the third book, since I get a hard on for industry and productionAlthough, I would like to see how the artists would design the mobili? The monolouges thing is a real problem, but I bet if they get moss to help them they could do it, or maybe they steal the directror of the old death note series
>tfw you get Princess Lamadi waifufags
>>
>>139560048
The original Rankin/Bass cartoon version from way way back is so ludicrous, it almost parodies itself!

>Where there's a whip
>there's a way!

>>139560255
I can really imagine this, now that there have been so many silly JRPG anime made. I think its only a matter of time.
>>
>>139563929
hehehe I myself may come to like lamadi, not the batshit insane agent, but the rather cunning princess. who for her part lobbied for all the right decisions given the circumstances if I recall currently. she was rather petulant yes, but she knew what needed to be done.

I love characters like that, but they are hard to write without making them seem overly malicious(even if some of them at times are)
>>
>>139547307
His Dark Materials.
>>
>>139565101
yeah, but imagine all the retarded bully threads if they get to the second book. The princess is a very smart lady, but the agent is insane
>>
>>139565393
if the show is good I would not mind threads of any nature when it comes to said show. the more people posting the better the page the thread would be on, the better the page, the more exposure the anime would get, thus attracting more viewers/fans and what not.

the ends justify the means as far as I am concerned
>>
>>139560365
I enjoyed Hard to Be a God. Its about a man from an advanced civilization secretly living among a medieval culture and studying them.
I haven't got around to the rest of the series though.
>>
>>139566252
Good point, to summarize. This series would be great, if they don't fuck it up and rush it. Anything else? Oh yeah what other audiobooks do you listen too I'm looking to trade reccomendations
>>
>>139566433
the blade itself(the first law) is my favorite fantasy series I highly recommend it. it has some of the best characters and characterization from any series I have ever read. it has my favorite mage(bayaz) my favorite fighting character(logan 9 fingers) there is glokta who is most of the reviewers' favorite character who even though he is a torturer does grow on you to the point where you can feel his anguish in being a cripple. and then there is cosca(shows up a little later in the series) who is a funny as fuck mercenary who like never engages in fights unless he is saching a city and there is loot involved. god the series is good, I feel like re-listening to the series again. you know any good books?

Firing point is fun submarine story with the a rouge ruskie general trying to restore the motherland. Lash up by Larry bond is a very fun story if you like construction, basically the US has to make a space plane to keep the Chinese from popping US gps satellites. A long time until now is also fun in a construction way, but with a different spin. And if you haven't already the Martian is a really good book also narrated by R.C Bray.

I'd like to see a series of OVAs about Asimov's short stories. I'd just love to see Donovan and Powell animated. Bicentennial Man would make for a good ending to the series. Although, I can't think of which one would be the best to start with.

Inherit the Stars could use an anime too, there's even a manga for it.
>>
>>139559281

Yeah, but the entire Revelation Space trilogy could use an anime or a live action adaptation. Or even Pushing Ice would be a good candidate for a multi-cour anime.

TRANSLATIONS NEVER
>>
>>139568800
Hard sci-fi doesn't translate that well into TV/Movies. I have a feeling any Revelation space stuff would alot of what made the book good, namely hard sci-fi, and instead focus on thinks Reynolds didn't care or develop much like 99% of the characters
