>It's a Dvorak's 9th Symphony episode

I'll post some conversation starters to see if there's an appetite for a lotgh thread today, then if that doesn't work, I guess i'll give up and go to bed
Starting with this: was Frederica the best girl?
Could you envision a good AU story where Yang gains autocratic power of the FPA before it was destroyed by the Empire? Perhaps where he's cornered into a do or die situation, forced into it by his supporters like Schenkopp, and if he doesn't then maybe Julian or Frederica might die. What do you think? I say this because as a viewer the show really makes you wish that Yang seized power from the corrupt FPA politicians and took the FPA back to its original liberal democratic spirit.
>In before that's not the point, it would ruin his character, Rudolph etc
I would enjoy it purely as a "what if?" scenario where Yang actually gets to be on the same level playing field as Reinhard
Here's an obvious one, I suppose.
What ifKircheis didn't die?
Was he a Gary Stu? Did you like Julian's role in the latter half of the show, or do you feel it could have been done better?
Was allowing the nuke on westerland the right choice?
>tfw no one talks about old anime on /a/ anymore
Can't answer any of your questions since I haven't watched the show, but why would you reccomend the show to someone? It's been on my backlog for years, but I don't want to start it bc it's so goddam long.
Daily reminder that Fleet Admiral Paul von Oberstein did absolutely nothing wrong.
Reinhard/Trump:
> Blonde rich asshole
>Tough on terrorists
>Thinks a wealthy trading state is screwing him over
>Destroyed his party from within by sheer force of personality and outmaneuvering his enemies
>His opponents constantly think he'll screw up eventually but he just gets stronger
Yang/Bernie:
>Idealistic
>Believes in democracy and equality
>Constantly undermined by a two faced crook who doesn't believe in anything but self interest
>Lacks the charisma but is popular among young people

No but she was top 10 material if not top 5.
Sorry but best use of that piece goes to Asura's Wrath.

In the end he is only able to succeed by impressing upon Reinhard that allowing some limited opposition may be to his benefit.
This actually applies in real life, look at Mexico, where the one party system allowed some organized opposition and therefore avoided a bloody regime change and even remained a force post-democratization.

I was in the same boat as you about a year ago. I never regretted starting it for a second. Amazing show.
If it looks daunting, think of it this way: you have something reliably entertaining to do whenever you have free time. It was my go-to activity for a few months, and I was sad when it ended.

>Reinhard/Trump
associating best guy with that

To usurp power from the elected officials he would need a level of acclaim that he never had untill after the Battle of Vermillion, or arguably after his death. And not unimportlanty he would need the support of the military, or the bulk of it at least; something he would not have untill the military coup that curbed any enthousiasm that the populace might have held for a military dictatorship.
It's not happening; the perfect storm that puts Yang into political power, while the Alliance has the strength left to fight off the Empire would need a fundamentally diffent climate to uccur in.
