It was an interesting episode.
The visuals were nice for the backgrounds like buildings and the crystals really looked nice too.
I like how optimistic Shun was about getting his father back, really drilled in the family relationship. His mom was pretty great too for the little time she got.
Something must be different about Shun's warp relic since it seems to be way stronger than Mr. Prince's over here. The Zu clan guy did kind of a similar thing to Shun's crazy blasts of power too. Though why did the Zu clan guy even hide it before taking it out. Does it use up energy?
The fighting choreography wasn't all that impressive. The king's fight was mostly offscreen with hits and the fight in the forest was just a lot of parrying and clashing.
Overall episode was just an introduction so there's still more to see.
One of the best parts that I like regardless of the episode was the talk about seeing a world inside a crystal.

Are dudes baring their midriffs a common fashion thing in Japan right now? I remember reading about how in the process of localizing this one video game they replaced the male MC's midriff-revealing shirt with a more full length one.

The JAMONESTCL showed promise. However the pacing was terrible. They spend 6 episodes adventuring in the city and when the time comes to introduce a plot on a planetary scale they ran out of time and it feels totally rushed. In the end there's not enough adventuring or plot.
