I was going to post this in the previous thread, but it go archived before I finish writting, so here it goes.
I'm not liking how you guys are depicting Miyokichi as a shallow slut. She had lost everything in war and had to sell her body to live; of course she would be fucked up. But you see, she's still a well constructed character. Even though Kiku show little affect towards her, he maintains (for a while) a relationship with her, despite her social position. For her, a geisha who has nothing, this enough reason to develop strong feelings for him. In fact, I would say that Kiku treating her with such indifference actually made Myiokichi feelings stronger, because he would treat her in the same manner no matter how she acts. As she said, only with Kiku she could be her true self. So she found herself completely lost after being rejected by Kiku. After find some consolation in Sukeroku, she soon noticed how lame he was as a husband and regretted running way with him and having his child. Also she can't stand he doing rakugo because it reminds her of Kiku, which is painful.
What I'm trying to say is that she is a very human character, and her interaction with Kikuhiko and Sukeroku only enriches the story.

This episode seemed like it was going to be fairly run of the mill but when Kiku saw Sukeroku I was starting to well up.
