I this thought 2011 was great so I checked out 99 out of curiosity and because the shitflinging between 99fags and 2011fags was amusing. Honestly it really is better in most categories so far. The only complaints I have are
>cheesy, dated music, I miss Hisoka's flamenco theme
>some weird quick cuts obviously used to save money by not having to animate stuff

No one says that, I get it that the Hunter Exam or the Heavens Arena may not be everyone's favourite but Yorkshin is already HxHCore and if you don't like it by then then it's pointless.
It's really good and has a decent end point with a satisfying conclusion even though the manga is still going.
Each arc is pretty different but I think they are all enjoyable if you just focus on them and what is happening in the moment and not worry about all the briefly mentioned plot threads going on in the background and characters who get random spotlight moments only to never be seen again.

English dub is coming this month.
Watch 11 for a good anime, 99 for laughs. They actually couldn't show a bunch of stuff in 99 because of censorship, and the wheelchair guy rides a power scooter. It's a fucking joke but a pretty good one.
