This is probably a lost cause because doubt any of you have good enough taste to be a fan of late 90s cyberpunk wander-porn, but it's worth mentioning there's a sequel ongoing and it looks real fucking nice.
Still no translations but it's at 15+ chapters (3+ tanks) and you can find the raws pretty easily. I may just read it with machine translation because the ending of the original gave me such blueballs I couldn't sleep for a week.

I still need to watch it myself, but I'd imagine it'd be pretty hard to get right. The mono no aware vibe gets exponentially harder to maintain when you transition from manga to anime.

Neat. Eat-man was one of the first manga I ever read, I found the viz translation hidden away on some out of the way bookshelf in the local library.

97 gets its exactly right in my opinion. It doesn't follow the manga, but captures the feeling perfectly, and leaves a number of things up to your interpretation. It's very nicely directed too, with a great soundtrack.
98 is more faithful but I found it pretty boring and uninspired by comparison. Your mileage may vary.

I wasn't aware there was a sequel and as a matter of fact I can't really see a sequel happening since the story itself had a pretty good ending and closure (even though it was kinda "open ended").

Watched Eat-man in college with my anime club way back when. And holy shit, there is a sequel?
Heres too hoping for translations of the sequel.
Eat-man was such a great manga, I never could imagine how much I'd enjoy it just when I was a couple of chapters in. It grows on you slowly but steadily.

By sequel, I was referring to the new manga. Anime wise we still have the two adaptations from DEEN. I loved the dark visuals of the series and to be honest Bolt was just cool.
