So... I guess Batou is just less relevant. To be fair, the 1995 movie didn't really go into the other guys' backstories either, but I really hope they don't straight up turn them into background characters. Also, if it is following the Laughing Man story, it's guaranteed to have a completely different, much more action-packed climax. The Tachikoma will probably be removed, and they were responsible for the final action scene in the series.
