It's actually become worse because publishers rely on tie-in series that are getting anime adaptations for sale boosts instead of picking up decent manga that haven't been animated. I agree TG feels very small in terms of the world, but I don't think Berserk did a very good job of conveying scale either. Just showing large armies and cities doesn't give a sense of bigness. The fight scenes are not anything special and in fact you can get a lot of shounen manga that have better panelling. The action isn't well drawn. Compare to Yongbi or Gosu. Berserk just has a lot of detail, but the action isn't well depicted at all.

yes, :RE is shit but I pretty much enjoyed the first manga. I hate the fanbase too. The fucked up anime adaption ruined everything. (The only good thing it did is that translation became scheduled.)
I admit that these themes are bringing in tumblr and reddit lowlifes. They want to be the misunderstood anti hero too like their favourite MC, but those people who actually like dark/sad concepts has to lay low because they are straightaway brought together with the scum invading 4chan.
