You know what's strange? We post pictures of anime girls that we call smug, and yet female anime characters are very seldom "smug", especially not the ones used in these pictures. There are plenty who are standoffish, but smugness seems to be an extremely unattractive feature to the Japanese with their self-abasing culture.
