Admittedly that would just be because it's original and not been done before.
Also, even if you aren't specifically from /v/ SAO has a ton of issues in how it breaks its internally established gameplay rules which, if you are familiar with videogames in general, will just take you out of the experience.
This is also probably why people were more invested in Log Horizon (which semmed to be crafted by someone who actually has played MMOs) while criticizing SAO (which the author admitted himself was done without him having really any idea how MMOs or modern games work).
