It was my anime of the seasons without doubt. But I also have a thing for mecha, yet loved how the show had an interesting setting with fantastical elements beyond the mechs. The fact that you often have pilots standing on the mechs themselves just makes all of it all the better.
I also can't help but find the show absolutely beautiful in spite of being CGI. I expected it to look terrible but I can't help but like it. It's impressive.
So Reoko is heroine of this show?

Thematically it sort of fit since the funeral procession then led into the ED theme. Personally I would have preferred if they used the animation during the song to give the reference more oomph and to better solidify that this was the culmination of Reoko's ANGER/ANGER but it was okay enough as it was.

Sensei didn't really get enough screen time to really get fleshed out, but he and epizo are opposite side of the spectrum "Cool" characters. Ones a hotblooded goofball that endears everyone to him and has a heart of gold and an unflagging heart. The other is the kind and intelligent who's affable but prefers to play the loner genius killer.
I think the ending did a good job of rounding out akihito's character with the flashbacks so for me one's not really better except by a matter of personal preference.

If anything it's even lewder inside the giant robots since Buranki are in part a manifestation of the user's raw emotions.
Essentially, Azuma felt his feelings for Reoko so hard at her that it pinned her in place and saved the world.The only question that remains is what exactly those feelings were.

We don't know. Her flashback and the whole "I'll save you" scene are huge flags, but besides that, they have zero interactions. The age gap also makes it difficult for Reoko see Azuma as a love interest.

Well what if they close the age gap by doing some sort of memory wipe in which she will actually start from 16 again. So yeah, not that old anymore. Basically he tries to save her throughout S2, in the end she gets broken away from Entei and can age again, and rinzu magic solves her previous illness as well. And since all her generals are pretty much taken now who knows?

Well she wouldn't be forced really, for her it would be like nothing happened. Sure, it would be a bit awkward at start, but they could try and properly isolate her for a change into some kind of villa in the mountains and raise her thee. And by they I of course mean her generals, if Azuma doesn't end up with her through some based writing of course, though looking at how mostly everyone's taken she'll most likely end up living with Zetsubi. Either way, they will be more than happy for her if she forgot everything. Remember, they're pretty much willing to throw their lives away for her if it means protecting her from the endless suffering she's gone through since Migiwa forced her to be Entei's heart. So having her forget all that and living a carefree life? Am pretty sure they won't mind erasing all they've been through since her happiness was basically their end goal.

But him going full Migiwa and soloing buranki himself sounds fun as fuck.

It's wierd, I remember seeing the nico live stream screenshots for each episode when I was browsing twitter, though I did indeed not bother with saving them, and only the first episode or two had quite bad results at the end poll. The rest were something like 90%+ if I remember correctly with the last episodes doing really well. I really can't believe every 11 hates this show. Their mother tried to reassure them that they were still all asleep. Yet they were on guard to the extent that they were, even against sleeping Buranki. In addition to this, the devastation of what would ever happen if Buranki woke up were implied since the very beginning, with fears of what would happen if any of them ever woke up being voiced. To which their mother, meekly so I might add, only replied that she'll watch over them so they shouldn't worry. A sentiment that only grows weaker and weaker with her very noticeable and visible deteriorating heath.
Migiwa may indeed respect Buranki, valuing their life like other life. But it doesn't really change how they were for the entirety of their upbringing, regarded and observed as dangerous monsters who they should only be thankful for aren't as dangerous as they very well could be.
And then they woke up and destroyed not only her home, but vast regions of the surface as well. In a conflict that appears to have also killed their father, while likely in one way or another consumed their mother as well.
Migiwa likely did have plenty of talks with them about Buranki, where she most likely brought up how Buranki lives matter too. But it doesn't look like she ever shunned away from the less glamorous and monstrous aspects of Buranki either. Especially not with how Migiwa herself was visibly afraid of the headless Buranki. And with Migiwa growing weaker and weaker while attempting to manage them, it's no wonder they grew visibly more weary and afraid of them as well. Then lastly, with how it ultimately concluded with the Buranki waking up and wrecking shit, it would be no wonder if she despises them still.

If anything it's a bit odd how Azuma appears to be as seemingly ok with them as he appears to be. Since even he had a literal flashback to when he was afraid of them when they first encountered a headless Buranki on the surface.
But I guess a difference between Azuma and Kaoruko may be that Azuma may have been afraid to the point where he couldn't take solace security in anything but his mother's words, insisting that they must be right since that would be only thing he could find himself at ease with. While it in light of everything likely wasn't enough for Kaoruko to feel secure, making her more desperate than Azuma. And more uneasy and or afraid.
Fast forward, and we have Azuma likely thinking that his mother had to be and or has to be right, and tries to evaluate Buranki from that perspective.
And Kaoruko, who may very well deem her mother to have been wrong, what with the Buranki bringing demise not only her own family, but to countless others as well.
It is believable enough if you ask me. And I still very much doubt she means any real harm. If anything there is a possibility she still feels desperate, perhaps even combined with a sense of responsibility and or guilt.

I've been thinking about what going to happen in Season 2.

I honestly barely feel anything rather than forced heroine from Kogane. They didn't expand on anything regarding their background, well yet anyway, and along the way I'm almost positive Kinoa was flustered by the guy just as many times as Kogane. Especially in that situation when the show was close to ending and they barely had any progress.
