The way I see it, Ein suffered the most from Okada. He spends the entire series trying to avenge Crank despite the fact that Crank confronted Tekkadan in the first place because he didn't want to make his men kill kids. Fails multiple times only to get fucked up by Mika and THEN ends up getting played by chocochar into becoming gundam only to get wrecked by Mika again and actually die.
His and Gaelio's characters are basically complete jokes.

In IBO you die because your role in the story is complete and possibily after an episode of death flags. The injured trio didn't have that, so they are still alive. Instead Gaelio and Ein ended their role as Mc Gillis pawns. In Gaelio's case he was also instrumental in defining some Mc Gillis traits.
