Is no one going to talk about how shitty the Osomatsu San episode was? It resolved nothing. It's like an episode the studio forgot to put in the middle of the seasons and they decided to make it the ending to fuck us

Humour is fundamentally about the subversion of expectations. You think A is going to happen, but B happens instead, and you laugh in response. That's why this episode was funny, because they made people think they were actually going to be serious before ditching it all in the first minute of the episode. If you're not laughing then the joke is really on you, because you wanted the show to be something it was actively mocking.

I remember the Tatsunoko ones were decent to subpar. Casshern told a decent story, but felt a little slow at times. And Yatterman felt a little rushed near the end, though I did like the villains becoming the heroes bit. No word on Gatchaman Crowds, though I did hear that some people enjoyed it.

I can understand this, and I admit the episode was really funny in some places, but it felt lacking. The last episode was dramatic, but it wasn't a ridiculous amount of drama in my opinion- as in, it felt realistic and as though it could really happen between these characters. It wasn't inflated to the point of mockery, I don't think. Then, this episode's humor WAS inflated to the point of ridiculousness. It just felt mostly disjointed to me, but then again, this show has never followed a strict narrative so I can't say I was expecting much else. In the end I'm glad it didn't stop on an ill-fitting, too serious note!

Gatchaman Crowds had a lot of negative reception when it first started up because it was literally nothing at all like the original Gatchaman, only real similarity was reusing names. A lot of people were kinda upset that it was basically just an entirely new show with the Gatchaman brand thrown on it but it died down eventually.

The second track here has me appreciating the VA work just like the first track on the first CD, when they don't have to record as a group it feels like there's more time for them to perfect how they want to inflect each line. Oso has a stronger lilt/slur like a scumbag, Choro hits lines harder, Jyushi is lower, Ichi is much smoother. I'm particularly excited for Irino's stuff in the future as he's already made Todo his own.

The very occasional episodes with more serious tones serve as an awesome contrast for the other 90% of the series with its off-the-wall comedy. Not only that, but giving the characters time and space for development and showing their more normal and genuine interactions makes the audience like and empathize with them more... which also makes the comedy funnier. Comedy is always funnier when you like the figures partaking in it and you understand things about them.

It's not like -kun never had any serious monents either. In fact a similar scenario happened in oso-kun grows up where the brothers went their own ways and only reunited years later, because of their father's death.
My main gripe is still that it was just a weak episode that felt nothing like a final even though they really, really tried. It would be better as the last episode of the cour or just something in the middle.

These polls change a lot, not to mention it depends on the magazine/place.
Girls magazine usually have Ichi first with Kara very close being second, Choro and Oso swaping 4th place and Totty dead last. Stores usually have Kara in first place, Ichi very close with Choro and Oso last. Magazines like Newtype Kara is usually first, in their first poll had Oso and Choro behind him, now it's Ichi and Juushi.

I fully expected everything to go back to the status quo but what a way to do it. While actual developments would have been interesting, it's first and foremost a comedy series so I don't mind. The final episode wasn't as good as a number of episodes throughout the series but it was entertaining nonetheless. Hopefully with the popularity of the current series, we'll be getting more in the future.
It's too bad about the aliens but if they can even kill Godmatsu, they never stood a chance.
