I think it was pretty decent. 7/10 or so. The beginning meandered about too much and Manato should have died in ep 3. The band shilling was also stupid and detracted from the show in my opinion. I think "wimps forced into life-or-death situations" was probably the story the author wanted to tell, and everything else is just a backdrop to facilitate that. Kind of like how Kokoro Connect's overarching plot is literally just an excuse to put the characters in dramatically juicy situations.

I wanted to see more of Rantas escape. I also really enjoyed his solo play and his anger at not going after Yume.
I didn't really enjoy Haru's insta kill of Dato Spoto. I know they explained the thief power and all, but I still find it annoying. Also, I wish there was a little less Drama and more casual talking between the party members. Similar to Haru and Ranta's conversations.
Other wise, it was a pretty good series. It was kinda slow at times, and the pacing was all over the place, but the whole DnD Party thing is really fun.
So do they ever remember their lives before showing up in Grimgar, or something similar? It's something that's been knawing at the back of my mind. Like I'm glad it's not another "Oh no! We're stuck in X and need to get back home!", and yet I can't help but wonder.

Probably the best show this season after Haikyuu for me. Although admittedly, I haven't seen Rakugo.
I really appreciated it. Probably not going to be a lasting favorite but I'll keep it in my head and revisit it sometimes and if I happen on someone who seems like they look for the same things in anime that I do it's going to be one of my recommendations.
I'm mostly satisfied with the pacing and direction. I think I can see the kind of show a lot of people wanted out of Grimgar and why they're disappointed it wasn't that show, and that's too bad for them, but I'm glad the production team made it this way. I don't think there was much filler or lack of development--the meandering, one step forward two steps back story of people learning to rely on each other was something really earnest and warm, and subordinating that to some other narrative concern would have killed the show's magic.

The production really collapsed in the last two episodes, made pretty apparent by that final fight that didn't even have any inbetweening, and the animation errors, like Ranta's disappearing helmet.
