From what I remember, the plan was originally to have Tekkadan start fucking up to show that they were going down the wrong path, but someone (Either the director or producer, I forget which) pushed for a happy ending so everyone lived.

In terms of more recent series, I didn't really root for anyone in G-Reco, Unicorn, 00, or SEED, while the Vegans in AGE were probably the worst faction ever.

F91 is an exception, because I can't remember any of the antagonists at all except for the guy who goes absolutely insane in Crossbone, and 0080, because it's hard to root for anyone over Bernie.

When McGillis was showing Gawlio the secret research base he meantioned that AV research had actually been continued by gjallarhorn up until recently and we see several ms frames identical to Ein's. His model number is also EB-AX2, with the "2" most likely being a unit number and his frame being the second of the ptototype frames.

From what I remember back in the fall, the director said that the current, untuned barbatos was only negligibly better performance-wise than a standard graze. Fully tuned up they are superior.
Graze are a dumbed down version of the valkyrie frame for regular pilots to handle, more modular, and easier to mass produce. They are still supposed to be better than a lot of stuff from the calamity war though and only get beaten out by the high performance limited stuff from the end of the war.

Director and Okada did want them to go darker at the end but the execs wouldn't let them. Her interviews make it seems like Okada's always being told not to get too dark with the series she works on.
