Akito was good. I was definetly happy for seeing CG world outside japan and the mechaporn scenes were amazing.
The 5 main characters and villain are pretty good too, Suzaku and Lelouch felt kinda meh here.
The problem with Akito only arises when you compare to R1 and R2 where they managed to keep 50 characters unique, important and interesting.

The majority of /a/ loves it, but I think very few rewatched it after it aired.
I watched it for the first time 1,5 years ago and found it quite average, way overrated.

The problem with Akito has been the releases have been strung out across years thanks to Gundam being Sunrise's priority cashcow.
Well, that and there's too many characters all jockeying for screentime. Not only do they not get enough development, but you sort of forget about what HAS happened. Aside for gypsy belly dancing and MIZUzaku
