It was the the first Gundam show I picked up since 00 and read that most other, if not all, gundam shows until now were mediocre at best. Thought this one would be different since the first few episodes were good, but then I got the most bland MC ever even for a gundam show, which didn't even seem like a MC, hardly any focus on the mecha at all and overall very poor animation.

We had a solid string of episodes after the first (which had far too much exposition) and then around 12 or 13, it started slowly falling back into her usual habits with poor storytelling. Military tech stagnated hard after calamity war. Also, the reason only 72 of the gundams were made is because the method for making them is supposed to be extremely difficult and was lost after the war, not because it was expensive.
And the graze is actually supposed to be better than most calamity war ms. It's just not as good as the higher tier limited run ones like the gundams or valkyrie frame ms due to being simplified for regular pilots. I think the director said that at the beginning of the series before it was fully tuned up the gundsm was only mildly better than a typical graze performance wise.
