You know, I was just rewatching EoE for the 100th time and realized something:
The A-801 issue was an official legal maneuver by the Japanese Government, why the hell did Nerv go rogue and decided to reject it and isolate itself agressively? Heck, in the very beginning of the movie they were discussing how the plan for instrumentality was the next step in the chronogram, and they new it should be followed.
Makes no fucking sense, plot wise. It's not like Gendou explicity stated that they should ignore the A-801 to the Nerv personnel.

The series' ending was the original, the true one. It wasn't filled with hatred like EoE. EoE was unnecessarily edgy and doesn't portray a development that would have led Shinji to accept humanity.
