I really liked Inuyasha when I was younger because unlike all my other anime, the vilain in Inuyasha was actively trying to foil the hero and was collecting the mirror shards or jew shards or whatever shards.

All other big vilains that I remember were more of the "I'll sit here and kidnap someone and wait for the hero to come and get her"

Somewhat. The gang keeps searching for jewel shards, Testsusaiga keeps getting bullshit powerups (although they at least Acknowledge them later in the series), inuyasha still cheats on kagome with the undead whore, etc. But it never really reaches a place of stagnancy.

Hmm, hpthat doesn't sound that bad, one of the things hated the most about the anime is how at the end of each arc it just turned out that Naraku was immune to the peviousTessaiga powerup and ran away and how zombie bitch always turned out not to be dead aa the begining of the next arc and undid all the relationship progress

Naraku was a damn good villain outside of the filler. He was responsible for a fuckton of mass murders when it got in his way(such as sango's village) and caught on to his underlings's scheming really quick.
