Summary of today's episode.
At age 16 Reoko inherited Entei's heart, at this point she has 3 years to live. Wanting to leave a something behind to show she was alive she decides to unveil the hidden buranki world to the rest of the world. As it turns Migiwa and Reoko were childhood friends and by crushing Entei's heart she made Reoko it's substitute making her immortal.
For 8 years Migiwa kept Reoko hidden but freed her after deciding to go to Treasure Island before she gives birth.
All is well until Migiwa stops the buranki hearts, the result of this being a genocide of bubuki users and even kids in Japan by normal humans, ordered by the ruling figures. Unable to stand this Reoko and her team kill them taking control of Japan.
Back to the present at Treasure Island, Reoko tries to kill Migiwa while all hell breaks loose as an army, presumably after Guy's orders, fires nukes at the island to destroy it.
Migiwa, Zetsubi and Akihito sacrifice themselves taking the nukes out with their fates unknown while Soya is taken out by an unknown heart user. Oubu fights Entei and Reoko refuses Azuma's attempts at saving her as his mother wanted.
Oubu stops the islands catastrophic descend but the island still sinks into the sea.
With Reoko's gang MIA, the nations around the world with a beating heart, Kaoruko reveals she was in cahoots with Guy and reveals her plans to create a new world order with her as the main character.
Meanwhile team Oubu wash up on a beach.

This final episode was great, the show got a bit slow with the Bubuki Battles early on, but it's been a crazy ride ever since and I loved every bit of it. Can't wait for S2 and I hope it's in Summer, and that the bitch sister isn't actually MC.
So who want to bet that in the End even the Sister isn't a Villain but did what she did for the Great Good and this series is basically good guy becoming bad guy because nobody can't spend two minutes talking things of?

It was an incredible finale.
It unravelled mysteries of the show while giving us further backstory, elaborating Reoko's and Migiwa's pasts.
While also culminating the earth vs Buranki Nest / conspiracy conflict thing that's going on for a great action climax.
While still resolving things by the end of the episode to a satisfactory level.
It was great. Even the tease and build up to the next season wasn't hamfisted or overblown. They left us a lot to be excited about for events to come, but they avoid blue-balling us hard with unresolved cliffhangers.
Lovely show. Lovely finale to part 1.

I thought this too when I got into it. But really, I can't help but feel that this show is pretty damn beautiful.
Sure the CGI still had its share of flaws, they were no doubt there. But they weren't nearly as bad as I had expected, and at the same time they really managed to capitalize on strengths of CGI that I guess I have admit that you can capitalize on.

They still have "old style" weaponry at the ready so they aren't that old. If the bubuki handover lineage was that old, you'd think bubuki users would come into the limelight way earlier than that. But the bubuki user purge seemed to be something fairly recent. Now you might argue they didn't need to purge them before since every country had their buranki. But that would still not explain why they still have "old" style weaponry like tanks still in tip top shape. I still say buranki and bubuki users feel somewhat newly introduced into the world. Around a hundred years or so would be my wild guess.

It's also explicitly stated that they weren't in the limelight due to some sort of Vampire Masquerade/Harry Potter truce bullshit where everyone just did cold war shadow ops with them instead. Reoko breaking that truce is what set off the cullings and thrust Bubuki into the limelight.
What's more likely is that Bubuki took forms more appropriate for the era they were in and what their current user was most comfortable with. This is further implied when Fedora tracks down Kogane's dad and talks about how Raijodou's "new form" is pitiful.
