It is indeed what made the KanColle anime bad. They really tried to mix in both SoL aspects and the serious aspects of the KanColle world but they failed hard because they didn't mix it well at all. SoL episodes were actually pretty good like the Curry episode but the episodes that had serious moments like Kisaragi's death were really forced and didn't mix in at all. They tried and they failed but TR staff was smart enough to separate it, resulting on not having to worry about how to mix it in and gaining more money in the process.
But then again, it really depends on the staff both anime are going to get and hopefully, they both turn out good.Kitakami and Bismarck are best boatsluts.
