The Sodachi stuff in general is my personal favorite arc in the series even + Ougi Formula was really fun too

Sodachi arc was really great, especially episode 5. They really nailed the pacing and the tension with the mix of real and fake cliffhangers plus perfect voice acting from Marina Inoue.
But I have a feeling shinobu mail is much better if you watch it in one go. Large part of the problem was waiting a week for what was basically a recap and then one more week for more exposition with 5 minutes of monkey being great and then one more week for the best episode.
And I really want the commentary tracks for Sodachi Lost.

Bakemono in general was when the series was weakest in structure too, it's not just because of cut dialogue. The series in general followed the dull structure of "here's a supernatural problem" -> "Meme explains how to fix problem" -> "here's the dumb moral of the story" and it didn't shed this until later on.

It's not mentioned again until Hana not because of trying to avoid spoonfeeding but because her dialogue in general isn't there. Cutting dialogue is pretty much inevitable though, you can't copy over LNs word-for-word, there's too much there. Outside of Nadeko Snake I felt that Bake generally wasn't too bad about this though. The later arcs are worse with this even.
I do agree that in terms of sheer source material the best arcs happen outside Bake, atleast. Bake was probably the most consist season overall in sheer quality though, after that it gets very hit-or-miss.
Also typically people here enjoy the sort of romance that Koyomi and Senjougahara. Yeah it's simplistic and yeah in most aspects it's your generic romance between two awkward teenagers but again, typically /a/ loves this shit (they just also love to complain about it)

It's the best main season of Gatari visually, and it has the best ED. It's not the best Gatari in any other aspect but it's still not bad in those other aspects. I find it interesting that it's often people who don't like the series in general who make some sort of exception for Bakemonogatari and insist that it's the best though.
As for the LN vs anime thing, yeah the LNs come off better most of the time. The series is just too dependant on internal monologue, some arcs way more than others (Hanamonogatari is actually enjoyable in LN form in my opinion) I think the anime does a pretty solid job at it most of the time though.

Well, Guillotine-cutter is kind of odd because we don't really see much of him yet he's said to be the strongest exorcist of the three, both by Kiss-shot just saying so as well as the fact that he took two of her limbs for himself, unfortunately, we never see it because of Araragi's shapeshifting.
All we can assume is that even human specialists/exorcists are all strong, mentally and physically, even if we aren't given a reason on why.

I never really thought about it until this point, but I'm wondering now, if a vampire gets a limb cut off, does that limb still stay after they regenerate? I always imagined whenever Araragi got something cut off of him, a completely new limb would replace it, not like in say, Baccano where the flesh that was cut off comes back and fixes itself.
