I wasn't sure if this arc was written by Kamachi or not, but the moment they explained the whole CVD part, I went, yep, that's pretty much Kamachi.exe, right there. If there is ever going to be a S2, they should announce everything will be anime-original and have Kamachi write out the episodes. They can double-dip into the LN fans for more BD sales from it.

I remember it being almost nothing but clunky exposition. I mean it's episode 1, you have to expect some explanations, but it was just too much of it.
Episode 2 was a huge improvement, but I remember the first leaving a terrible first impression.

I loved that the two of them didn't really care about world peace or some crap. They just wanted to get bitches, make money, and fap in the barracks to their porn stash.
Havia had no qualms about desertion and leaving people to die to save his own skin, while Qwenthur had no problems with taking diamonds from an abandoned mine or fondling his commander right in front of other politically powerful people.

Raildex fans have EVERY fucking right to be salty and you should be salty with them. I'm an HO fan and I'm mad as hell at what Miki and the other chucklefucks at dengeki did. They hyped up a 10 year anniversary for kamachi but made it have an Index focus with tons of index related media coming out with the it culminating in an event where the main index VAs were at and they had the lead singer from index sing EVERY single one of the index OPs even though she's known for not liking to publicly sing to then announce HO.
Even worse is that every dengeki festival Miki does stupid shit either intentionally or by mistake for further infuriate index fans or give them hope. During the spring fes he laughed at the fans who asked. During last's fall's he got on stage and prostrated himself asking for forgiveness and now this one he was dancing on stage still laughing at index fans.
And because of the way it was announced HO was a doomed project from the getgo no matter how it turned out. They completely alienated a mans fanbase for god knows whatever reason. They had a chance today to fix that and to drive an INSANE amount of BD sales if they did something as simple as a homage to the theater scene in NT01 and they threw that away.

They really did it well though, apart from the mirror missile execution.
I can understand only having 2 episodes to work with, but it seemed a bit silly that nobody else used that strat against objects before. It seems like a fatal way to destroy them.
Hime seemed to deem it trivial, but it's anime original so not worth wracking your brain over.
Though I am glad Hime's necklace didn't produce some last minute asspull, but was used to spark the idea for his strategy.
Everything went so well and perfect, we got to see all the characters one last time. It really struck the right chords, especially the OP insert.
It went so well that when Hime's parachute came loose, I got worried and thought something bad might happen at the last minute.

It was honestly, not a bad adaptation. Other than the first few episode, everything was changed for pragmatic reasons. They can't fit everything in, and they can't go full exposition heavy like they did in the first episode. Given that it was an enjoyable ride and not much info was lost in the attempt, I say it was a pretty good adaptation. But I do agree, this series is too good for the regular otaku. No fujo-bait, no betas, the two bros are hard working and smart soldiers that can, will, and have killed people. They put themselves in danger and willing to follow orders. Also, there is a distinct lack of Yamato Damashii since it's a panache of US action flicks. This isn't a SI-friendly series.
