He's also the same Okabe who via D-Mail helps the Okabe who did go back save Makise.
If S;G 0 takes place right after S;G, then we won't get to see how he figures out a way to save Makise eventually unless the VN covers those 15 years. I just figured we'd see the 33 year old Okabe who's finally figured it all out, which I think would be neat. A mad chuuni scientist driven even madder by the tragic loss of his true love.

Nah, I played through every line of the S;G VN before watching the anime. I love everything about the series. If the 0VN is translated before the anime comes out, I'll just play through that and there'll be no problems(though I'd still rather avoid spoilers if I can) but I feel the anime will be out first since it's already greenlit and all the source material is available to the Japanese animators.

Normally for me, subs v dubs just comes down to:
I can have the original.
or
I can have an imitation of the original.
And I'll always want the original.
But with S;G, it goes a step further in that, before the lines have even been voiced, the "translated" script for the dub is fucking awful. I could go on a rant about how they got terminology wrong, how lazy some of the translations for names or even full lines were, how bad the pacing of the voices are with characters awkwardly leaving no pauses inbetween each other speaking, or even talking over each other, how the massive changes to how characters speak gives you a completely different image of their personality, etc.
But I won't. Instead, I'll just leave the fact that they "translated" Okabe making a pun about a strawbery into him shouting "The cake is a lie!"
Because that's just fucking undefendable as a translation.

Yes. All AV media is supposed to be viewed as originally filmed. Taking the visuals of an anime and replacing the audio with shitty VAs changes it, much like taking the audio from The Godfather and replacing the visuals with a stick figure animation.

Would you be satisfied with a voice acting performance where none of the VAs were ever in the same room to record lines and hear how each other sounded?
