I used to do this relatively often, but it began feeling like a waste. Now I usually keep to one or two episodes a week for each series I'm watching. It gives time for the shows to grow on me, and if I've spend a few weeks without watching an episode of something it's a good sign that it's time to drop it and pick something else.
