How has one man produced so many series of such high quality?
Maybe he loves his job.
He is one of the best mangaka in activity, yet still not that famous.

He knows exactly what he wants to do and how to achieve it. Dude is a complete master of pacing, paneling, and general dialogue/writing. Of his 3 most popular works only Sengoku Youko had a rocky start, and since then it has had a clear purpose with much improved story delivery. I suppose the bad translations of the first few volumes don't help it, too.

He makes niche works. The only one he's made that could have had broad appeal is Sengouo Youko, although I think that Spirit Circle should have been more critically lauded. The first few chapters are the exact type of work that attracts awards, but I suppose it just garnered no publicity at all.

I think he's only had three really good ones. Psycho Staff and the one about the shut-in with spirits on her head are okay, the angel one's not that good, and Wani Onii-san's okay and also a oneshot which probably doesn't count.

You're right, but I don't think they stand out that much in the context of short series, either. Something like Wings of Vendemiaire is a very good short manga, Psycho Staff is middling. He's better at longer narratives.
