I just remember I liked Ginko's VA in that show. Most of all of the other characters were some reused VAs, obviously, because of the episodic element in the show. They weren't that great.

I had this happen to me for Evangelion.
I grew up with dubbed Eva and I wanted to watch the Rebuilds dubbed because I was so familiar with those voices, but so many were changed that it was jarring.
English is not my first language, but I've occasionally downloaded dual audio releases and checked out the English dub out of curiosity. They're not always terrible, but there's always a few common problems:
- Japanese words and names are almost always completely mangled. It seems that native English speakers cannot comprehend how vowels work in other languages, so they always do things like stretching a simple "e" into an "ayy" or an "o" into an "oooh" and such. They also can't understand the sound that the "r" letter makes in Japanese. And they often put emphasis in the wrong syllable.
- Little girl characters often sound like grown women. I don't really know why this is the case, maybe western women have naturally deeper voices than asian women. Or maybe they just don't know how to sound cutesy aside from raising the pitch as high as they can.
- For action shows, screaming out attack names just doesn't sound as good in an English dub. English words don't lend themselves to this sort of thing as well as Japanese words do, because the emphasis is rarely at the end of the word, which is the part you really want to stretch out. When the attack name is in English to begin with, it sounds exciting in the Jap audio because they mangle the pronunciation in their own way (the reverse of the first issue I listed). But in an English dub they would obviously pronounce correctly and most likely lose the effect.
These problems can sometimes be dealt with in a satisfactory manner, or sometimes don't even apply to begin with (like when the show has a western setting), or maybe you just don't care, but I don't see why you wouldn't just watch the thing in the language it was originally made in. Audio is half of the experience, a dub can completely change how the whole thing feels.

I'll never understand how people even think a cartoon can have a "dub". It's animation and has to be dubbed by definition. Generic up and down mouth movements pretty much lip sync with any language, this isn't live action where it looks stupid because they're lips don't match.
The only time you get lip syncing is in some close ups and even then not that often.
