None of that proves Gremmy is a part of hte Soul King, all the other pieces someone referred to them as a part or they themselves call them a part of the Soul King, and if the Soul King was missing his brain, pretty sure his attendants giving him that update and him seeing the future would be useless/not possible.
And he could be a brain if he had some degenerative disease thing that fucked up his body and if he decided to forge his regular human one that failed him for something that wouldn't fuck him over.

Taking Byakuya's words at face value, he actually did a long time ago.
If he was never in Shikai to begin with, which is usually a condition prior to Bankai activation.
On the other hand, Byakuya does not use his shikai prior to his own Bankai.

Couple things. First of all first day translations are rarely reliable, particularly when it comes to the specific wording or naming. And how could Byakuya even make the call that constantly released swords are no longer a thing JUST based on Kenpachi using a Shikai? Why would you even take that as reliable information?
And next about Getsuga. Here's the kicker. We don't know a lot about Isshin, his Zanpaktou, or its connection to Zangetsu. We know that by name they're both connected to the moon but that's about it at this point. Engetsu is fire based and Zangetsu is reiatsu based. We've seen little of Engetsu and it's not really telling one way or the other when we do see it.
All we know is that Engetsu doesn't change shape when it's released. And when Isshin used Getsuga against Aizen, his sword was still in its base shape. Which doesn't say anything one way or the other. But both times when he released it and when he used Getsuga there was an aura around the sword. Which again is ambiguous. Engetsu could have very well been released when he used Getsuga but there's nothing telling in the manga one way or another as to whether he released it or not.

There's a few ways this can go.
The fan favorite trio can beat Gerard conventionally, which is the dumbest route.
Aizen comes in and finishes Gerard with some absurd hado spell and the trio turn on Aizen, preferably ending with Icecunt stabbing Momo.
The least likely route I see happening is the Royal Guards getting off their asses and joining the fight, with Ichibei finishing Gerard with his laughably broken Zanpaktou. Bonus points if the RG suddenly switch alliances and turn on the trio.

Byakuya received a power up, and Hitsugaya possibly as well. They could deal with the regeneration through extreme mass of blades or a localized Ice Age.

That's not exactly how Yhwach's soul piece works. The soul piece resonates with the heart (the past, experiences, personality, goals, ideals disstatisfction, etc.,)of the Sternritter and based on that it creates the Schrift. Like how an Asauchi works. Driscoll got the Overheat for the same reasons as Mayuri his Shikai and Bankai. But the best way to understand how Yhwach's soul piece works, is looking at Aizen's explaination of the Hogyoku. They function the exact same way. In fact I would say, that the Hogyoku is basically an artificial emulation of the special Quincy. This makes one wonder, why some of the Sternritter received the stranger Schrift. Giselle must have a pretty fucked-up childhood, since Giselle received the zombie at a very young age. It makes one also wonder what it means for Urahara, that his Bankai allows to de- and reconstruct things, especially after his speech about scientists.
The only exceptions to these are Yhwach, Pernida, Gerard, since they always had their powers, possibly Gremmy, if he turns out to be the brain of the Soul King, possibly Haschwalth, since the A and the B seem to come in a set and could be always the powers between Yhwach and his other half and possibly Uryuu, since he has also an A.

Well, it is much truer to the character of Aizen for sure. And it does adress several problems in the very story.
With that said, status quo is very much enforced, and the main characters other than Ichigo are made out to be idiots. Which, fair's fair, they all are. But I must say I have a dislike for stories that open the eyes of some characters, but keep the ones the author does not like out of the loop. If your main character becomes smarter, then the enemy must become smarter as well. And that applies on the broadest scale.
And Ichigo instantaneously trusting Aizen? Nope. While he is mostly correct in his rhetoric, Aizen still did almost cut him in half, and his means are far bloodier than they could be. Seeing Ichigo as an equal, when canon Aizen never met an equal other than Urahara is excessive.

Well by definition the hero is only ever as great as the antagonist he overcomes. Aizen, until he went full retard, played very well to this concept. Kubo's mistake was to make him so powerful and smart that his MC cannot, ever, go up against him on even grounds without massive character derailment.
The fullbringer arc showed Ichigo to be capable of singular thought, at the cost of putting him through the grinder of an antagonist that had gave him no chance to breath. Essentially, what Aizen would have done had he not gone completely off the rails.Ichigo is the sort of character that makes a great paladin on paper because by god does it take a lot to stop him from doing the right thing. All of which comes from his trauma (losing his mother because he made a mistake, and because he was fooled into endangering himself), and duplicitousness is really the opposite of that ideal. Luffy and his ilk succeed by being too idiotic to fool. Which brings levity to a story meant for teens, but at the cost of some meritous logic.

Ichigo's attempt will most likely not work. It's too early for the final battles. I think Ichigo will be alone, so Yhwach can tell him something in secrecy. I've mentioned this before in other threads but I used to think different cultures had different soul societies. That's why SS is so feudal, even though it's such a slim slice of the world. The Quincy were European Shinigami, and Chad and Orihime were just unknowns.
Chad has been explained away but the more I think about it it's still possible for other cultures to have different shinigami. Yoruichi's definitely not japanese, at least not fully japanese so her cat form may just be her culture's equivalent of Bankai, and the Gotei just don't have a proper name for it. It would also explain why urahara developed an interest in her, and she would seem Exotic to whichever household she belongs to prompting her adoption.
Actually the original blood war may have been the Gotei 13 invading and destroying other soul societies, annexing the soul king for themselves. That would actually make them the nazis.
