God portion of the first cour was honestly really badly done and it isn't Index S3 and everyone even non-indexfags are salty about that shit they pulled. No single fanbase deserves that. It was doomed to flop when they announced it the way they did.

that's because the source material sucked for the first few books. The author meant to make this a one shot, and had not planned to fill out the world's lore or how it works or anything else. so the first few arcs have ZERO world building and generally have the MC fight off one faceless mook after another. The writing gets better later in the series when the author finally decides to do a little world building.

Picked this up and marathoned 23 over 2 days.
It's only because I've already read quite a few of the novels a couple years ago.
It's slower paced than I remembered, at the time I did think it was written in a way very typical of standard anime.
