Taiga is a great tsundere because she has good reason to carry around all that anger. Her family is shit and Minori is her only real friend. She has pushed everyone away from her because she's tired of people hurting and disappointing her. Her mom only cares about appearances and her dad is a total flake.
As soon as she meets Ryuji and finds someone who never seems to disappoint her and genuinely cares enough for her that even when she tries to push him away, he comes back and has patience for her, her anger begins to melt away. For the first time in her life, she actually feels loved and opens her heart and grows as a person.
