I'm thinking about watching this, thoughts?

Forgettable wasted potential seasonal anime 101 with forced drama flavor
Still better than Charlotte
>>
I'll always love isla-chan.
>>
>>138942668
I have seen Charlotte. I thought it wasn't too bad. Maybe could have done with more episodes more depth. I hear this isn't anything like Charlotte though.
>>
Totally worth the watch.
The end was totally predictable, though.

I enjoyed the best girl parts. Other than that it was meh.
>>
>>138942593
It's a really fucking good concept but it falls on its face because it's full of plotholes. I am not one to catch plotholes, but I could pinpoint 2 or 3 every single episode.
>>
Forced tragedy.
>>
It was fun. The show had a good premise but the show suddenly lost direction of what it want to be in the middle. Like all the other anon said the ending is predictable but exactly because it was predictable most of us enjoyed it when it ended.
>>
>>138942593
It's fine, could have been better, but wasn't bad.
>>
I dropped it when the MC suddenly had to move into a dorm room with his cute moe robotfu for no apparent reason beyond "yeah otaku would like this fantasy"
>>
>>138942593

The initial concept and world is really interesting but don't expect it to be expanded upon or use any of its potential. It turns into a straight-up romantic dramedy during the latter half of the series. I enjoyed it though. Isla a cute.
>>
>>138943482
>no reason

Other than everyone else also living with their giftia? Fucking retard.
>>
Good concept that had no legs.
Played out everything in a few eps and spent much of the season just trying to find an interesting way to fill out the time until the inevitable ending.
>>
>>138943482

>tfw realizing that I live in the same room as my computer because I'm in an otaku fantasy where people live in the same room as their possessions

dang
>>
Great first episode. Some nice art. Isla is fucking adorable.

I didn't feel my time was wasted.
>>
>>138943508
That's not a reason either. In fact that just expiates the problem further because now you have to justify why ALL of them have to live with their partner.

What fucking job in the world (besides stuff like being in the military or offshore oil drilling) forces coworkers to move out of their own homes and live in inter-sex dorms together?

>B-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-but it's so they learn to work together better!!!!"

No. It's a stupid wish fulfilling fantasy to set up all the usual romcom anime cliches and you're just butthurt that I'm calling it out for what it is. Kill yourself.

Best original of its season, garbage like punchline and pleiades never stood a chance against PM
>>
>>138943764
Pffff
>>
>>138943695
Nothing I said besides calling you butthurt had to do with you personally (though you are happily proving me right anyways)

There was absolutely no logical reason to make him move in with her. It was entirely to appeal to peoples own personal fantasy of suddenly living with a cute girl and to setup the cliches. It's the same reason every shitty battle-academy harem has the MC be roomates with a girl for some shitty flimsy reason. I don't get whats so hard to admit about this incredibly obvious reasoning, but until you concede i've got no choice but to just assume you're butthurt over having your fantasy challenged.
>>
>>138942593
My thoughts is that I want to fuck the piss out of that little robotic sperm worm. Just pound that tight little robutt while she begs you to stop so she can go to the bathroom, and just keep going until she starts spurting all over the place, crying and covering her face with embarrassment while you continue to thrust in and out of her.
That's what I think about Plastic Memories.
>>
>>138943583
Boy it sure is crazy that they give their "possessions" in the shows universe so many rights and independence except for the ones the plot and wish fulfillment demands.

Your computer wouldn't want to live with you if it had a choice.
>>
>>138943780
Sorry my man, I forgot pleiades was the hipster choice that season, Too bad PM still outperformed it in every way in both japan and the west

The slow-paced development of their relationship across multiple jobs was refreshing.

It's more about romance and life as opposed to sci-fi or philosophical mumbo jumbo. The show doesn't try to be deep or profound and that's okay.

Plastic Memories is just there to tell a story, and it does that more or less well. The visuals are pretty fantastic at times and the opening/ending is probably one of the better one's I've seen in a long while.

You may like the show you may not, it's not for everyone and remember that if you don't like it you can always drop it.

Go in with an open mind and few expectations/notions about the story and I think that you'll enjoy it alot more than most of the people replying.

And yes it's a sad show.
>>

Michiru wasn't even in the Tsukasabowl. She had a little crush on him early on but got over it and quickly joined the Isla ship with everyone else.
>>
>>138948254
Nice assumptions.

I don't care if she won or not. I didn't like it from the start. I mean, they tell you these robots have life expectancy of like 3 years or something. Then they tell you that Isla was already like 2 years with the company.
It's so fucking obvious she has little time left but dumb as fuck MC didn't even notice. The absolutely first thing you'd do when you join a company like this is ask how much time left your robot partner has.
Couple it with the usual "I can't like you because I'm going to die soon" and you can just tell how tedious everything is going to be.
>>
>>138943825
no
>>
>>138948311
I didn't really like this show, however I also can't lie to myself and not defend it in this case of how I've seen others explain this show.

Plastic memories doesn't try to be sad in the traditional "someone you love suddenly dies unexpectedly and it's shocking and tragic" kind of way, it's more like having a loved one with a terminal disease. You know it's hopeless and nothing can be done to save them, and the countdown to the inevitable is where the sadness comes from.

I still didn't really like it, but I at least properly understand it to make the judgement.
>>
>>138948356
That answer isn't even applicable fuccboi
>>
>>138948382
Well I didn't say suddenly. She was acting like this even after he found out about her expiration date and it only got better until MC and her previous partner woman almost forced her to give him a chance regardless.
I knew she liked him from the start but she would not act on it if it weren't for them.

I don't know why it sounds like most of anons itt expected some sort of action/world building or whatever. It was clear from the beginning that it was just a romance animu. In quite literally the first scene the mc says he's fallen in love or something like that.
And it was executed well. Yeah, the ending was predictable, or rather simply obvious from the very start, but that made it even more tragic.
I liked it. If you're into that kind of stuff, go for it.

You are confused, poor raging child.

Why would anyone get all emotional about keeping their laptops and vaccum cleaners at home?

What, are you one of those morons that give name to their game console and suddenly don't want to change in the room where it is plugged in?

Giftia are not humans. They are nothing more than machines. VERY sophisticated, yes. But still nothing more than machines.

If anything, PlaMemo is a drama, showing traumatic results of exposing an immature young man to technology he isn't really ready to handle properly. FFS, what's this about 'falling in love' with his assigned robot when the real, breathing, breedable young lady clearly interested in him is no further than 'down the corridor'?

At least the show ended on a positive note, showing him having matured.

I liked that they slowly closed off each and every option of escaping the inevitable end with each episode. Normally I'm a huge happy-ending fag but that's usually because bad ends tend to be really forced in Japanese media (insert life of protagonist -> receive victory).

But they went through the trouble of making sure we understood what was going to happen and just to enjoy the ride.

Not like it stopped happy-ending theory shitposting while it was airing, but eh.

>all this "ending was predictable"

You say that now, but when it was still airing, you faggots were in denial on how this was going to end, making up alternate endings and shit. Some did hold on to their guesses until the end, but most were hoping for at least a somewhat better ending.

But the ending was indeed good, no "let's run away and live for ourselves!" crap, which would have been disastrous.

I only said it would do that because I was really hoping for a straightforward "Isla dies" ending and I didn't want to be too disappointed. I was pleasantly surprised that it actually followed through.

I wasn't here when it aired, but the ending WAS predictable. Not even just predictable, it was obvious from the beginning. But it doesn't make it bad, I wouldn't have it any other way desu. >>

Admit it though, part of you wanted the diary thing to happen because it was a slightly foreshadowed twist that totally wouldn't be a twist if they went for it.

If anything the shocker was they didn't go for a twist which ended up being the twist.
>>
Complete trash, OP. I kept waiting for the little bits of good to come together and make it worthwhile but it never happens.

Also, Isla is complete shit. Completely boring and terrible with basically no redeemable qualities. I was fucking mad the MC cared so much about her but I guess they belong together since he's cardboard.
>>
>>138968469
True, your common sense would tell you that it would most probably end with Isla dying. But because most were hopeful that there would be a better resolution, many kept making guesses. That's how it was when it was airing. Your senses were blinded by your want to keep Isla alive.

I feel like in the unlikely scenario that we got a season 2, it would end up being an expanded/deeper version of Eru's subplot (where she tried to see if there was anything left of Andie's old personality at all).

He'd spend the entire season trying to get New Isla to fall for him and we'd feel like he's making progress here and there, lots of cute moments, etc. But at the very end she just sits him down and plainly explains that he's a great guy but she's simply a different person than this Isla he knew. She tells him they can't be together like that and I guess Tsukasa would accept it because he's not a whiny bitch.

It would be pretty thematically consistent with the first season I think.
>>
>>138942593
Every charater is bland. Their development feels like the writer has an autism-level understanding of human relationships. Most of the secondary girl's dialouge and interactions with the MC are shit-tier """"comedy"""" that belongs in a cheap ecchi

I think a second season would be shit no matter what it was about.
The message Plastic Memories tries to pass is yet another of "You must let go", a S2 would go directly against this message because it would be about Tsukasa trying to relieve his moments with new_Isla just to arrive in the same conclusion. This definitely doesn't need to be done, forced second seasons never works and only leave a bad aftertaste on the viewers mouths, just look at PP2.

Now, let me over-analyze this show for a moment.
The only thing I found really interesting in PM is that it decided to deal with robots instead of lovers with clannAIDS or relatives with fictional incurable diseases, but why is that?
Somehow I think PM is already thinking on a possible looming future when AI's have human-like intelligence and people run away to virtual realities and robot prototypes.
Would that future be sustainable? Isn't it just wrong somehow to completely flee from reality? If said AI's broke or reset somehow, wouldn't it leave a scar on a person who has grown their whole life accompanied by it? It's escapism, can't you see it's not healthy?
It really gets me to think.
But then, I'm just procrastinating my school essay and wishing I had a qt Isla for myself, so don't mind me.
