Yeah, the sheer mercilessness involved is one of the things I really like about Yuru Yuri, well, that combined with how lighthearted it somehow manages to make concentrated suffering. (Unlike some other stuff in this thread.)
Some of the drama CDs are even more over the top, there's one where the Amusement Club goes to karaoke and Akari gets dumped on in ways that make the anime look tame.
