Honestly, the anime is great until the end of Thriller Bark. A lot of twats will say the quality went down way before but it is not that noticeable at all until the Timeskip. Imepl Down was pretty great too. Marineford was arguable.
Skip all fillers except G8 arc, which comes right after Skypiea. You can watch them later, if you want. Only the pre-TS ones though.

Oda's action scenes are really stiff, but the anime somehow conveys even less dynamic action and with much worse art. On the other hand his handling of emotional scenes is stellar and the Corazon flashback was a lot better in the manga.

If you get that feeling then just re-read the manga. I honestly think the pre-TS anime is pretty damn wonderful for the most part. The voice actors put so much emotion in their work. Ace'sdeath scene still hits me hard because of Luffy's voice and the music. It's intense.

Character development. Pic related clearly shows his grudge against Whitebeard, but after realising the war was pirates vs marines in the end he sided with them to save Luffy. Luffy earned his respect in that war from a tsundere. Crocodile realised he didn't lose to "just some kid who came out of no where", he realises he lost to a pirate with a lot of potential and seeing Luffy die would let that go to waste.
It's likely Crocodile will be at the wedding due to his mafia theme and I won't be surprised if he helps Luffy fight Big Moms top dudes.

It's comments like this that make me absolutely despise speed readers. Try re-reading the chapter where Luffy argues with them about who will stop Doflamingo, they all stated their reasons. Eg family, honor, pride, money etc

Akainu didn't get buttraped he came back fine. The anime made it look like he had a fearful face but the manga shows him staying strong and punching back blowinf off half of Whitebeards head.
Also when you consider Odas statement saying Akainu could find One Piece in a year, that means he could go through Big Mom and Kaido's road poneglyph too. He's strong as fuck.
