I re-watched Evangelion recently 4 years after seeing it when I was 14 and not getting it and now, every other anime I watch feels empty and hollow by comparison. Any show ever give you that feeling /a/?

Maybe it's because I didn't watch it when it first came out and I don't have nostalgia for it, but Evangelion was just so boring. It tried to be meaningful and failed. I've already watched lot of other anime with better symbolism and psychology. The creator basically confirmed it's just pretentious garbage visual-wise. And under all the random artsy bullshit, it's pretty shallow actually. Again, maybe this is just because I've watched a lot of anime before Eva. I just never understood why people overrate it so much. It was pretty bland and underwhelming no matter how hard it tried to be edgy. I've seen all this shit already, done better. But I do love the music and some of the animation sequences. It's objectively great in those aspects.

I don't exactly have any real nostalgia for it either. I only watched it when I was 14 because I heard about the last two episodes being animated in crayon and wanted to see that so I watched it and it went over my head. I saw people jacking off to it so much though that I decided to rewatch it and I fell in love with the series. I will admit though, it's a boring paint by the numbers mecha show (with the exception of episode 4) until the halfway mark. I really enjoyed everything after that though, especially the end of evangelion. Different strokes for different folks though.

I found that I'm a lot like Shinji when re-watching the series and that I shared a lot of the same insecurities with him so I actually relate more to it now than I did back then

Count the number of anime from that time period that still have as many discussions going on into today. Evalgelion speaks to a lot of people, much more so than the average anime.
As for the hollow feeling, I find that's actually a fairly common feeling after watching something great. I'd recommend a palatte cleanser. Watch something dumb, but fun. Don't go chasing after something that will measure up to Eva, as that will never happen. Great things will be more appreciated when you're not looking for them.In case a thick anon comes by, I'm not saying there's nothing better than eva, just that always using eva as a measuring stick will guarantee you won't find such an anime

Sorry, my phone's an antiquated toaster and my camera's batteries are dead. The quality is really nice, though. Solid paper, gloss cover, roughly 8.5 by 11 size. Really thin, which kind of goes with the territory, but otherwise the quality is good enough to display on a shelf, or set out as a coffee table book.

Hard to say, as I don't have much experience with those, but I'd say the cover and bindings are graphic novel tier, and the pages are like standard printer paper, except much more sturdy (maybe twice as thick?). Also depends on the doujin. There were a few full colour gundam ones I have that are pretty close to graphic novel tier. I'm not an expert by any means, though.
