ITT: good anime adaptions of western classics
It's actually funny how pic related with the count as a blue space vampire is the best adaption of the book.
Unfortunately that art style gave me a massive headache instantly and I just couldn't watch it. I really like the book too. :(
I liked the anime version of Metropolis, even though it doesn't really have much in common with the Fritz Lang version. The ending's better, though.

I loved the artsyle, but yeah I can see why it'd give someone a headache.
>>138710530
You get used to it.
I don't think an artstyle this pretty can give anyone real headaches.
>>138710530
HAHA ur body sucks XD
Howl's Moving Castle, and Arrietty
>>138710530
It was overwhelming at first, but I got used to it.
Not a bad adaptation of Crime and Punishment, even if they did change a few things to make them either sexier or more relatable to Japan
I want a Catch 22 anime but with girls
I still don't know why more Hollywood types don't try to pick up more Japanese stories. It's probably for the best though considering Live Die Repeat.

I think I'll give it another shot. It was years ago and I've seen Madoka Magica since then and got through the witch parts just fine.
Is the manga adaptation of The Divine Comedy any good?
>>138710644
It is hands down one of the best animated films ever made. It always surprises me how many people who are into anime have never even heard of it.
>>138710485
Is there a remaster BD version yet?
>>138710644
I thought it was based on a Tezuka manga?
>>138711097
Don't know about "remaster" but pretty sure there's a BD.
>>138711116
Which was in turn based on the Fritz Lang original.
>>138711075
It's really great, I loved everything about it.
>>138711116
It is, which in turn was based still images from the 1927 Metropolis. They don't have much in common except for a robot girl that the main character falls in love with. They're both great though.
>>138711075
The music choice for the ending scene was sublime.

>>138711242
>based on still images
Oh okay, I didn't realize they had any more in common than the name. Interesting.
>>138711075
>>138711307
The attention to detail was amazing. I don't think I've seen another anime or movie that had that much debris drawn that well.
>>138710485
If it just wasn't so gay.
>>138711484
It changed a lesbian character from the novel into a straight love interest for one of the protagonists so I'm not sure if I'd call it gay.
>>138710485
I really want to find the old trailer for this show. It had that "reveal" music in it, with the violin and all. I really liked that trailer, fuck
>>138711624
oh fuck me someone actually uploaded it on yt recently

>>138711624
I think you mean the second one of these https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SB56qFLo9og
>>138711820
Yeah that's the one. I don't know why the other shitty trailers are the only ones I could find before
>>138711802
>mfw half of the soundtrack isn't on the actual released soundtrack
>>138711820
gat dayum that's an amazing trailer
>>138712000
meant >>138711802 specifically
>>138711932
Really? I have the 2 CDs and it seems pretty complete to me.
>>138712000
>>138711802
Anyone know the name of the actual musical piece used?
>>138711802
>>138713591
Tchaikovsky, Manfred Symphony, 1st Movement.
>>138711027
Anyone?
>>138713831
That manfred symfonie trailer, maybe the best anime trailer I ever saw.
And that ED too. To me, that tune is the epitome of HYPE.
>ep is winding down
>the count is probably sitting and brooding
>mellow mood
>suddenly a smirk
>they won't see me coming kicks in
>BAM
>H Y P E
>tfw no more Haydee
