Why did L reveal the fact he was only broadcasting in specific regions of Japan? L could have continued investigating in secret knowing Kira is likely in Kanto, instead of risk Kira secretly fleeing and going to another country entirely.
Because he knew it would make Kira panic and more likely to make a mistake

Reasonable. A lot of reasoning was mind games in the show.

Because it's impossible to realistically catch a smart death note so the anime had to make a ton of logic leaps to advance the plot and give L a chance.

Basically this. The largest leap is just assuming some kind of outside magic is the cause. Realistically, Kira could have kept killing with impunity and no one the wiser, forever.

Pretty much this, though L's reason for doing it was mostly because he wanted a "total victory."
L pretty much knew "Kira = Light" without much time. Yet to him, it wouldn't have been much of a challenge/victory to just detain him and investigate things from there.
