Seriously, the overall visual is pretty good, but it must be something very strange happened so they end up use this character design.
I mean, Dengenki/Warner/Madhouse all are not newbie companies, they must aware this design will turn off many otaku's interest, even though it end up having good animation, direction, story adaption to make some of them return to watch it, they will still end up lost some audience.

I start feeling Madhouse thought this is Shoujo manga at first, so they find a person usually adapt Shoujo show to make the character design, and then they realize this is Degenki LN, but it's too late to change.
I know this theory sounds stupid, but i don't even know how can Madhouse choose this design, i mean it's not like they first time to adapt LN, even they try to make it low budget(though from the PV seems not really a low budget show), they should be use some moeshit design to attract otaku's, not use this design to disperse them.
