Does anyone remember this anime? Why was this cancelled and was there any resolution given for the black kirin. I really liked this one. Found it when I was digging through my collection.

It's really great. I can only hope for a remake with better production values.
>>
I wish they had finished it. It was good
>>
Of course, its a classic. The author released a book of short stories fairly recently, but there hasn't been any continuation of the main novels.
>>
because Anime are just for people too lazy to read the source material. If you truly love what you're doing, why are you still watching anime?
Granted some genres work better as an anime. This isn't one of them
>>
>>138422088
God-tier, except for the retarded ending. It wasn't even an ending, though.

Also: post-2000 Studio Pierrot did something right.
>>
>>138422088
The story was never finished in the novels, either. It's tragic.
>>
>>138422461

I wish i could read japanese but some of the other posters have said that the story if unfinished even in the novels and I am inclined to believe them

the novel wasn't finished yet at that time.

>>138422218
it's still ongoing apparently

>>138422533
It was an OVA series so they had the time to make it good.

if they remake, it's going to be shit. I hope they will do a continuation someday. Also, pic related is one of the best story if not the best.

not sure if serious.

I really want anime about modern guy going to past/parallel world and bringing science and technology with him.
>>
>>138423078
ah, my bad. It's only the last 6 episode which are sold as OAV in my country.
>>
>>138423126
it's not popular nowadays. You can watch Escaflowne/Fushigi yugi

Absolutely based. Thanks anon.

Same, but with more of the arcs Youko's involved in. The Taiki arc was good for expanding on the world, but didn't need 13 whole episodes for that.

That part where Youko whips her royal army into shape and then declares her first royal proclamation is something I won't forget.

I liked how 12 Kingdoms dared to use characters who were meant to be shitty people, who could even be called despicable, and develop them in a way that wasn't retarded or unconvincing.
>>
>>138425015
why remake the 39 first episode?
>>
>>138425670
Why not?
>>
>>138422088
story never finished at the time of the creation. Then author had health problems that caused a delay. I think it was in the process of writing back in like 2008-2009 or something. The beginning got resolved but the actual in kingdom stuff hadn't happened yet
>>
Gods are a real entity. Youkou manages to convince the kirins to endorse a pseudo UN/international food stockpile at national borders to get around the mandate that no emperor/imperial forces can intrude on another country even as humanitarian aid.
