I used to think it was because you needed full penetration (hue) with the Arrow to get a Requiem hence why it becomes a part of their design. But then I reread VA and realised that the only reason Polnareff knew about Requiem was because he lightly jabbed himself with it and put all the people and animals in the town to sleep.

the immediate next fight (Baby Face) is atrocious, probably one of the worst fights in VA, but Giorno develops another interesting use of his power, which is good
the fight after Baby Face is White Album, which many regard as the best fight in all of VA
it's definitely worth it to stick with it, but if you haven't already, now is the time where you need to download the colored raws (from the pastebin) and keep them alongside the bw translations. these upcoming fights are such a mess in bw that it's really hard to make out what's going on unless you've got the colors
