Writing and Drawing are both full time jobs, trying to both usually ends in 1 or the other suffering (or both).
So usually they just rehash old ideas that worked for other people and hope their designs work well enough and add just enough flair to pull people in.

I'm only about 3 episodes in but it seems pretty solid right now. It occurs to me that as bots get smarter, capcha will have to continue to improve to trick software with sufficiently effective image recognition software and other 'human-like' problem solving abilities.
The endgame of this algorithm arms race is heuristic software administering turing tests to one another. Basically a Google version of bladerunner made exclusively to bully robots.

That's true, well, partially and less dramatic.
They used the old captcha in order to get scanned books into a textual digital file when the automatic software failed. That's why you only had to input the distorted word right, the regular would be the scanned one.
The new one with the streetsigns and house numbers are obviously for google street view. Same for the store front.
But the regular one are most likely some way of helping the automated machine learning.

Closer to this season's DtB. It's an episodic action series following a duo of mercenaries that basically hunt criminal bounties in the underworld of an extremely-near future scifi setting, shadowed by this monolothic technological paradigm that frames all of the criminal-of-the-week stories.
It lacks the noise-esque atmosphere and spy thriller-style intrigue that DtB had, and it's just plain not as good, but it's still a decent weekly action series otherwise.
